Our boutique hotel La Marejada is a short stroll down a sand path to one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

The beach is miles of unspoiled white sand and great waves. Thanks to the National Park it will remain that way.

In addition to one of the most consistent year round surf breaks in Costa Rica, Playa Grande is one of the largest turtle nesting grounds for several species of oceanic turtles including the Leatherback.

You’ll stay in one of 8 individually decorated rooms designed for your comfort. You might take advantage of the pool for a relaxing place to cool off after the days many optional activities. The sounds of the birds, wind in the palms and crashing surf will be your background music as you unwind.

Artful Meditations Through Landscape Painting

Alexis will guide use using the awe-inspiring seascape of the Playa Grande beach as our paintable subject matter.

Daily evening classes will provide the container to develope your creative process from start to finish.  Each class offers a new technique or trick to support the emergence of your unique creative expression.

All materials are included. All we ask is that show up with an open mind, and together we will create a beautiful keepsake that will last a lifetime. 

The yoga deck is a bamboo and hardwood structure with a palm thatched roof. You’ll have the option of attending morning meditation and breathwork followed by Erika’s signature fun, creative and challenging morning practice.  Followed by an unwind evening flow, meditation and talk. Erika will also be available to book for 1:1 sessions (not included).

Both daily yoga classes are all levels appropriate for all bodies! No experience required! Bring your open mind and heart and allow your practice to unfold. 

If you’re a surfer you’ve probably already done your homework and have wanted to visit Playa Grande as it’s one of the best surf breaks in Costa Rica for consistency and swell direction.

The main peak is a two minute walk from our front door with fun hollow peaks that break left and right over the sandbar. Mid to high incoming tide bring the best waves but the outgoing tide works as well.

If you want to surf all day long you can hit the low tide at the Tamarindo river-mouth at the south end of Playa Grande. Avellanes, Langosta, Playa Negra and Junquillal are all within a short drive from Playa Grande if you crave a different wave every day.

Witch’s Rock/Ollie’ Point is a great full day trip and they will pick you up at the hotel. For those of you who haven’t experienced the joy of surfing yet we have access to excellent beginner lessons available with experienced surf instructors. You’ll start off down the beach in small waves with no one else around in a fun and safe learning environment. They want you to love it!

There are several places to rent surfboards… everything from high performance short boards to boogie boards as well as surf accessories and clothing. 

La Marejada is known for its blend of local and Italian cuisine. Breakfast, lunch and dinner feature local fresh produce, meat and seafood to give you the best of Guanacaste.

If you can tear yourself away from the beach, Guanacaste offers lots more: Dry forests to zip-line in, mangroves to paddle through, coves to snorkel in, sunsets to sail into…there’s something for everyone!
